Active Manuka honey has long been prized not only for its distinctive earthy aroma and caramel finish, but also for its healing and health-giving properties. It’s been proven to inhibit stomach ulcers, fight gastrointestinal infections, soothe inflammation and swelling such as sore throats. It also aids indigestion and smoothes complexion.

Pure organic Manuka honey has been harvested by Gary Jeffrey from his Mountain Beech Apiaries hives for over 50 years. A passionate organic pioneer in his 70’s, he still walks the bush to check his hives and modestly claims that he has more to learn from his bees. Shipped by sea and packed in the UK with nothing added or removed.

Manuka honey is from bees who feed on the flowers of the Manuka bush in NZ, also known as the "Tea Tree" to produce a honey that has anti-bacterial properties. Research at Waikato University has shown that all varieties of honey have some anti-bacterial activity. Manuka Honey tested as having a much higher level of activity, up to 30 times greater than the other honeys tested. It contains an additional antibacterial component, the Methylglyoxal, that has been called the "Unique Manuka Factor" (UMF).

The index +15 means that the content of Methylglyoxal exceeds 15mg per kilogram.
