The Different Company

The name says it all, and means it. The Different Company was founded in Paris in 2000 by Thierry de Baschmakov and master perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena, at a moment when the fragrance industry had never been more uniform. Their answer was not only a new brand. It was a stance: against safe formulas, against hollow luxury, against the tyranny of consensus. Before anyone was calling it niche, they were doing it.

Creative freedom here is not a marketing claim, it is the brief. The house The Different Company has worked with some of the most visionary noses of our time: Jean-Claude Ellena, his daughter Céline, Émilie Coppermann, Mathieu Nardin... Each given room to push, to experiment, to use rare and natural materials in concentrations and combinations that commercial perfumery simply won't go near. The results are compositions that resist easy description : precise, unhurried, alive on the skin.

The Extraits Extrêmes by The Different Company are something else entirely. Five fragrances, each above 50% concentration, each built on a provocation: what happens when you give extreme intensity the discipline of elegance? The answer lands somewhere between a butter-laced Proustian flashback, a tuberose wrapped in Russian leather, salt crusting on sun-warmed skin, and sacred incense bleeding into cold urban air...
