The third chapter of the Fioriture collection, In_Carnation is signed by Jean-Claude Ellena, the "Gardener Perfumer".

The Italians were the first to perceive how the clove (chiodi di garofano) shared the olfactory soul of the flower bearing the same name in Italian (garofano). It was Marco Polo who, returning from China with his ships laden with spices, named the carnation precisely because of this striking resemblance.

The fragrance opens on the carnation in all its complexity: powdery, lightly spiced, immediately recognisable. But the carnation holds another secret: a vanilla note that gives it an unexpected tenderness. This is not by chance, but rather a miracle of natural chemistry: the natural scent of the carnation is composed mainly of eugenol, also the main component of clove (they share much more than just a similar name), which is transformed into vanillin through a delicate semi-synthetic process.

It is this quiet alchemy that accounts for the unexpected softness that settles at the heart of the fragrance. Rose at the base adds one last touch of warmth and depth.
